Josephine holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Curtin University (Australia) and further honed her expertise through the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Residency Program at Singapore General Hospital. Demonstrating her commitment to advanced practice, she was awarded the Singhealth Scholarship and completed a Master in Clinical Physiotherapy (Sports Major) in Australia.
She has been a dedicated physiotherapist at Singapore General Hospital since 2012, where she also served as the leader of the Camden physiotherapy team as well as the service leader for the SGH Sports Physiotherapy and ACL team for many years.
Josephine specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions across all age groups. Her experience extends to post-operative orthopedic, geriatric, and neurological conditions. She also provides care to athletes of all levels, including national athletes. Notably, she served as the physiotherapist-in-charge for the table tennis, tennis, boxing, and kickboxing teams during the 2022 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Vietnam.
Josephine strongly believes that holistic and patient-centered care, when integrated with high-quality treatment, is essential for maximizing positive patient outcomes. She has consistently been recognized for her exceptional patient care, receiving the hospital’s Service with a Heart Award and numerous Singapore Health Quality Service Awards.
In addition to her clinical work, Josephine actively contributes to the professional development of physiotherapy students, conditionally registered physiotherapists, and registered physiotherapists through teaching and coaching. She was deeply committed to mentoring and sharing her expertise with the next generation of physiotherapists. She also educates and shares her expertise with physiotherapists in Singapore and was invited to conduct workshops under the Postgraduate Allied Health Institute (PGAHI). She was awarded the Singhealth Associates in Education in 2021.
Josephine has been a prominent advocate for physiotherapy management and injury prevention, sharing her expertise across diverse platforms, including Channel 8 Morning Express, The Straits Times, Capital 95.8 live radio, Channel News Asia 938 live radio, Shin Min News Daily, Lianhe Zaobao, National Library Board talks, SGH public webinars, and Define Today’s Medicine- General Practitioner Newsletter.
Demonstrating her multifaceted expertise, Josephine has held various administrative and academic leadership positions at SGH, including Lead Physiotherapist for the Sports Physiotherapy Service, Program Director for the Sports Therapy Support Associate, Trainer for the Post Graduate Allied Health Institute, Module Coordinator for the Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal Residency Program, and member of the SGH Workplace Health Promotion Committee.
In her free time, Josephine enjoys jogging, cycling, playing netball and badminton as well as spending time with her loved ones.
